Request a Program
Our interactive presentations are designed to raise awareness in regard to mental health as well as educate audiences about coping skills and other wellness behaviors. We welcome requests to present to or table at classes, clubs, teams, residence halls, other student organizations, and any events on campus!
Why schedule a MHA presentation?
- One in four young adults between the ages of 18 & 24 have a diagnosable mental health concern, yet this age group shows the lowest rate of help seeking
- Mental health issues are a leading impediment to academic success
- Untreated mental health concerns in college students are associated with lower GPA & drop out
- Treatment is effective but shame & stigma can interfere with accessing treatment
- Our trained peers can be a very effective means of encouraging our students to seek help

How to Request a Program
Program requests must be made at least 2 weeks prior to the desired presentation date. If the presentation request is for a class, the instructor must be present for the entirety of the program.
Questions about MHA presentations can be directed to Adriana Varela-St. Clair or Julia Padgett.
Programs We Offer
Programs are 50 minutes in length (note: the Counseling Center Services/How to Help a Friend presentation is also available as a 20-minute presentation). All presentations are interactive in nature. Please note that most of the presentations require A/V equipment (e.g. computer with DVD player, projector) to be available to the presenters. Available programs are:
Counseling Center Services/How to Help a Friend/How to Make a Referral to Counseling
This presentation will provide information about resources and services offered by Counseling and Psychological Services. It will also include descriptions of signs and symptoms indicating that someone may be in distress and how to effectively refer to professional mental health support. This program’s length can be adjusted (20 or 50 minutes) to meet different needs.
